Sharingan to Rinnegan
Madara's eyes are the heart of his power. He pushed the Sharingan to the Eternal Mangekyō with his brother Izuna's eyes, then awakened the Rinnegan late in life — the first Uchiha ever to hold it.

Also known as Ghost of the Uchiha, Second Rikudō, Madara
Madara Uchiha is the legendary leader of the Uchiha clan and a co-founder of Konohagakure. Once a child soldier of the Warring States period, he built the Hidden Leaf alongside his rival and friend Hashirama Senju — then turned against the village and the world, and became the principal antagonist of the Fourth Shinobi World War.
Madara was born during the Warring States period, the eldest son of Tajima Uchiha. He and his siblings were child soldiers, fighting the rival Senju clan from boyhood. Three of his siblings died young, leaving only Madara and his younger brother, Izuna.
His talent was obvious early — as a boy, Madara could already defeat grown Senju shinobi. One day, throwing stones across a river, he met another gifted boy and the two became fast friends. They traded their frustrations with the war and a single shared dream: a village where children would not be sent to die.
The boy was Hashirama Senju. When the two discovered they belonged to enemy clans, the friendship was forced to break. It would take years, and the death of Izuna, before they met again — and this time, actually built that village.
Madara grows up a child soldier in an age of endless clan war. He buries three of his siblings young, and the constant fighting forges a perfectionist who will not stop until he has mastered a thing. Only his brother Izuna is left at his side.
Madara befriends Hashirama, another gifted boy, before either knows the other's name. They share a dream of a village where children are not sent to die — until they learn they are Uchiha and Senju, and the friendship is forced to end.
The war grinds on, and Izuna dies of his wounds. Madara never recovers from it. He takes his brother's eyes to gain an Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, and the loss leaves a bitterness that shapes the rest of his life.
Madara and Hashirama finally make peace between their clans and found Konohagakure together. For a short time, the village Madara dreamed of as a boy actually exists, with Hashirama as its First Hokage.
Konoha does not become what Madara wanted — the village comes to distrust the Uchiha, and he comes to distrust the village. He leaves, fights Hashirama at the valley that takes its name from the battle, and is believed to have died there.
Madara survives in hiding for decades. He grafts Hashirama's cells into his body, awakens the Rinnegan in old age, and devises the Eye of the Moon Plan — setting the young Obito Uchiha in motion to carry it out after him.
Reanimated by the Edo Tensei during the Fourth Shinobi World War, Madara takes the field in person and becomes the jinchūriki of the Ten-Tails, the source of all chakra — the single greatest threat the shinobi world has faced.
Madara is widely called the strongest Uchiha who ever lived. He awakened the Sharingan as a boy, drove it to the Eternal Mangekyō with his brother's eyes, and — after grafting in the cells of his rival Hashirama Senju — became the first Uchiha to awaken the Rinnegan and to use Wood Release. He commands all five chakra natures, a colossal Susanoo, and, in the Fourth Shinobi World War, the power of the Ten-Tails itself.
Madara's eyes are the heart of his power. He pushed the Sharingan to the Eternal Mangekyō with his brother Izuna's eyes, then awakened the Rinnegan late in life — the first Uchiha ever to hold it.
Madara's Susanoo is one of the largest ever shown — a towering, twin-faced armoured giant whose full form he compared to a Tailed Beast.
By grafting Hashirama Senju's cells into his body, Madara gained the Senju clan's Wood Release, growing forests and binding enemies with living wood.
An Uchiha fire technique taken to an extreme — Madara blankets an entire battlefield in a rolling sea of flame.
In the Fourth Shinobi World War, Madara becomes the jinchūriki of the Ten-Tails, the source of all chakra, making him the single greatest threat the shinobi world has faced.
Hashirama Senju
Madara's childhood friend and lifelong rival. The two dreamed up Konoha together as boys and built it as men, then fought at the Valley of the End. No other bond defines Madara as completely.
Izuna Uchiha
Madara's younger brother, and the last of his siblings. Izuna's death broke something in Madara for good — and his eyes gave Madara the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.
Tobirama Senju
Hashirama's younger brother and the Second Hokage. Tobirama never trusted the Uchiha, and his suspicion was part of what pushed Madara away from the village he had helped build.
Obito Uchiha
The young Uchiha Madara saved at the edge of death and shaped, over years, into the agent who would carry out the Eye of the Moon Plan in his place.
Nagato
The boy Madara secretly implanted with his own Rinnegan, so the eyes — and a path back to life — would not be lost when his hidden body finally failed.
Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki
The Sage of Six Paths, the founder of ninjutsu itself. Madara is the reincarnation of Hagoromo's elder son, Indra — a lineage of conflict reaching back to the very start.
Sasuke Uchiha
The Uchiha of the present generation who stands against Madara in the Fourth Shinobi World War, on the opposite side of the question of what the clan's power is for.
Tajima Uchiha
Madara's father and the head of the Uchiha clan before him — a leader of the very war Madara grew up fighting.

Madara has the most extreme profile on the board — almost every column reads rare. His Kekkei Genkai column carries five entries, from the Sharingan line through the Rinnegan to Wood Release, a set no other character matches. His Nature Types cover all five basic natures. His Attributes stack Edo Tensei, Six Paths Sage, and jinchūriki together. And he debuts in the very last arc, the Fourth Shinobi World War, so the Debut Arc arrow almost always points up toward him. Once any one of those columns lights up, Madara is easy to confirm.
