Shadow Clone Jutsu
Creates solid, independent copies of himself. Naruto makes them by the hundred and uses each one to scout, train, or overwhelm an opponent. It was the first technique he ever learned.

Naruto Uzumaki is the lead character of Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto. He is a shinobi of Konohagakure, born with the Nine-Tailed Fox sealed inside him on the day he was born. Shunned for most of his childhood, he chased one goal — to be acknowledged — until the village named him its Seventh Hokage.
Naruto was born to Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, and Kushina Uzumaki, the village's previous Nine-Tails host. On the night of his birth a masked attacker tore the fox, Kurama, free of Kushina and turned it loose on Konoha. Minato stopped the rampage the only way he could: he sealed Kurama into his newborn son. The sealing cost both parents their lives.
Naruto grew up an orphan who never knew why the village kept its distance. Parents steered their children away from him; shopkeepers watched him a little too closely. The loneliness pushed him toward pranks — defacing the Hokage monument, disrupting class — because attention of any kind beat being invisible.
Iruka Umino was the first adult to look past the Nine-Tails and see a boy. When Naruto failed the Academy graduation exam a third time and was tricked into stealing a forbidden scroll, Iruka took a hit meant for him and said, plainly, that he believed in him. Naruto learned the Shadow Clone Jutsu from that scroll the same night, passed, and earned his headband.
Naruto graduates on his fourth attempt and is placed on Team 7 with Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno under Kakashi Hatake. Their first real mission, escorting a bridge-builder to the Land of Waves, ends with Naruto facing Haku and Zabuza and learning what it costs to protect someone.
In the Chūnin Exams Naruto fights the Hyūga prodigy Neji, who insists a person's fate is fixed at birth. Naruto wins, and the match becomes the series' thesis: effort can overturn a so-called destiny. Soon after, the Sannin Jiraiya takes him on as a student.
Sasuke leaves Konoha for Orochimaru and the power he promises. Naruto chases him to the Valley of the End and loses. The failure sets the spine of everything that follows — Naruto's promise to bring Sasuke home — and he departs on a two-and-a-half-year training trip with Jiraiya.
An older Naruto returns and joins the rescue of Gaara from the Akatsuki. He trains his Wind nature into the Rasengan and produces the Rasenshuriken — the first technique that belongs entirely to him.
After Jiraiya dies investigating the Akatsuki's leader, Naruto masters Sage Mode at Mount Myōboku. When Pain levels Konoha, Naruto beats him in battle and then convinces him to undo the damage. The village that once shunned him carries him home as a hero.
Naruto confronts the hatred inside himself and earns Kurama's trust, turning the beast from a prisoner into a partner. With chakra from all nine Tailed Beasts and power granted by the Sage of Six Paths, he becomes central to ending the war.
Naruto and Sasuke fight one last time at the spot where Sasuke first walked away. Both survive, and Sasuke returns to the village. Years later Naruto reaches the goal he set as a lonely child: he becomes the Seventh Hokage of Konohagakure.
Naruto's chakra reserves are vast even before Kurama is counted — the Uzumaki bloodline is known for unusually large reserves and long life. His nature affinity is Wind, and through Kurama he also draws on Yin and Yang chakra. He learns slowly next to prodigies like Sasuke or Neji, but once a technique sticks, the Shadow Clone Jutsu lets him train at many times the normal rate. By the end of Shippūden he stands among the strongest shinobi in history.

A sphere of spinning chakra held in the palm, formed with no hand seals. Jiraiya taught it to him; the Fourth Hokage spent three years creating it.
Naruto folded his Wind nature into the Rasengan, producing an S-rank technique that shreds a target down to the chakra network.
By gathering natural energy at Mount Myōboku, Naruto sharpens every physical stat and senses chakra around him. He trained for it after Jiraiya's death.
With Kurama's trust, Naruto cloaks himself in the fox's chakra. Combined with Six Paths power during the war, it is his strongest form.
Sasuke Uchiha
Naruto's rival from their Academy days and, by the end, the person he understands best. Both grew up without family, and Naruto reads Sasuke's path of revenge as the one he himself only just avoided. Bringing Sasuke home becomes his longest-running promise.
Sakura Haruno
A teammate on Team 7 and one of Naruto's closest friends. His early crush on her settled into a steady, unconditional bond — the two of them held the team together through every year Sasuke was gone.
Kakashi Hatake
Team 7's leader and Naruto's first jōnin instructor. Kakashi taught him teamwork before technique, and later, as the Sixth Hokage, formally recognized how far his student had come.
Jiraiya
One of the Legendary Sannin, Naruto's godfather, and the mentor who shaped him most. Jiraiya taught him the Rasengan and toad summoning, and left him a belief Naruto carried through the war: that a true shinobi works toward peace.
Iruka Umino
The Academy teacher who was the first adult to treat Naruto as a person rather than the Nine-Tails' container. His faith in Naruto, on the night the headband was earned, is where the whole story turns.
Hinata Hyūga
Hinata watched Naruto from a distance for years, drawing courage from the way he refused to give up. She steps in front of Pain to defend him — a moment that pushes Naruto past his limits — and the two later marry.
Kurama
The Nine-Tailed Fox sealed inside Naruto at birth. For most of his life the relationship is pure hostility; once Naruto faces and accepts his own hatred, Kurama chooses to fight beside him as a partner.
Minato Namikaze
Naruto's father, the Fourth Hokage, who sealed Kurama into his newborn son and died doing it. With Naruto's mother, Kushina Uzumaki, he left behind chakra imprints that meet Naruto years later and finally explain the night he was born.

Prologue (Land of Waves)
When Naruto is the daily answer, his rare columns give him away quickly. The Uzumaki clan is shared by only a handful of characters, Kage rank cuts the roster hard, and the Jinchūriki and Sage attributes together point to a very short list. His Konoha village and Ninjutsu, by contrast, are among the most common values on the board and rarely narrow things on their own. Naruto debuts in the Prologue, the earliest arc, so the Debut Arc arrow will almost always point down toward him.
