   Read the clue closely

   The riddle is one sentence, written in first person, and it never names the village and clan outright. It points at the answer through looks, catchphrases, jutsu, relationships, or a turning point in the character's story. Read it twice before you type anything.

   Name a character

   Type a name into the box. Autocomplete matches English, Japanese romaji, kanji, and common aliases — 'Pain' finds Nagato, 'Copy Ninja' finds Kakashi. Guesses are unlimited, so a wrong answer costs you nothing but a line on the list.

   Reveal a hint only when stuck

   Three hints sit below the input, sealed. Open them in order: the first points to a village or affiliation, the second to a clan or a key relationship, the third to a name initial. Each hint you open drops your star score by one — solve with none and you keep all three stars.

   Solve it, or reveal the answer

   A correct guess locks in the win, your star score, and your streak. If you are truly stuck, the 'Reveal answer' button unlocks once all three hints are spent. A new riddle goes live every day at 00:00 UTC; past riddles, with answers, live in the riddle archive.

Every riddle is built from indirect references. Once you can name the kind of reference you are looking at, the clue stops being a wall of words and starts being a checklist. Five kinds cover almost every riddle.

  Looks. The most direct clue type. Blue skin and a sharp grin, a swirling orange mask, a violet seal on the brow, green spandex and a bowl cut — a single distinctive look usually narrows the roster to one or two names on its own.

  Catchphrases and habits. Naruto says he never gives up; Shikamaru calls everything a drag; Kakashi is always late and always reading. A quirk written into the riddle is a fingerprint — match the habit and you have the character.

• 三

  Jutsu and weapons. Explosive clay, a door-wide blade, sand that shields without thought, a dome of ice mirrors. Signature techniques and weapons belong to one person. If the riddle describes a power, list who has it before you guess.

• 四

  Relationships. A brother, a master, a rival, a teammate. When a riddle leans on a relationship — 'the orphan I trained later took my life' — solve the link first. Naming the other person often hands you the answer.

• 五

  Fate and turning points. A clan lost in one night, a body crushed under a boulder, a graduation drowned in blood. Major story beats are the hardest clues because they need real lore knowledge — but they are also the most precise. One turning point rarely fits two characters.

One more rule: open hints late, not early. Guesses are free, so spend a guess before you spend a star. Most days a careful read plus one probe guess gets you there with all three stars intact.
