Flying Thunder God Technique
Minato's signature space-time ninjutsu. He marks a target, a person, or a kunai, then teleports to that mark instantly. He refined the Second Hokage's original into a far faster, sharper weapon.

Also known as Fourth Hokage, Yellow Flash of the Leaf, Konoha no Kiiroi Senkō
Minato Namikaze is the Fourth Hokage of Konohagakure and the father of Naruto Uzumaki. A once-in-a-generation prodigy, he was renowned across the ninja world as the Yellow Flash of the Leaf for his unmatched speed. He died on the night Naruto was born, sealing the Nine-Tails to save the village and his newborn son.
Minato entered Konoha's Academy with the same dream his son would later chase — to become Hokage and be recognised by the village. He was a prodigy of a kind that appears about once in a generation, and the Sannin Jiraiya took him on as a personal student.
He met Kushina Uzumaki when she transferred into his class, and was drawn to her bright red hair from the start. Years later the two married. Minato also led a genin team of his own — Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchiha, and Rin Nohara.
During the Third Shinobi World War, Minato's speed made him so dangerous that the Hidden Stone is said to have ordered its shinobi to flee on sight rather than fight him. He was credited with turning the war, and was named the Fourth Hokage soon after.
Minato enters the Academy chasing the Hokage title, and quickly stands out as a prodigy of a kind the village rarely sees. The Sannin Jiraiya takes a personal interest and trains him directly.
In the Third Shinobi World War, Minato's Flying Thunder God makes him so deadly that the Hidden Stone reportedly orders its shinobi not to engage him at all. He is credited with turning the war, and the name Yellow Flash spreads across every nation.
Minato leads a genin team — Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchiha, and Rin Nohara — passing on what Jiraiya taught him. The lessons he gives Kakashi outlast him by decades.
Minato is named the Fourth Hokage of Konohagakure, the goal he set as a boy. He and Kushina marry, and they are expecting their first child — a son.
On the night Naruto is born, a masked man tears Kurama free of Kushina and turns it on Konoha. Minato uses the Dead Demon Consuming Seal — a technique that costs the user their life — sealing half the beast into himself and half into his newborn son. He and Kushina die shielding the child.
Reanimated by the Edo Tensei during the Fourth Shinobi World War, Minato fights at last beside the son he never got to raise — and sees, for himself, the shinobi Naruto became.
Minato was a once-in-a-generation prodigy. His speed earned him the name Yellow Flash of the Leaf, and the Flying Thunder God technique made him effectively impossible to catch. He created the Rasengan, mastered a difficult space-time ninjutsu, and was skilled enough in sealing to wield the Dead Demon Consuming Seal. He could enter Sage Mode as well, though his fighting style leaned on raw speed.
Minato's signature space-time ninjutsu. He marks a target, a person, or a kunai, then teleports to that mark instantly. He refined the Second Hokage's original into a far faster, sharper weapon.
Minato created the Rasengan by studying a Tailed Beast Bomb — a sphere of pure spinning chakra that needs no hand seals. It passed through Jiraiya's line down to his son.
Minato trained in senjutsu at Mount Myōboku and could enter Sage Mode, though he rarely needed it — his speed already did the work.
A forbidden sealing technique that calls a death god to seal a target, at the cost of the user's own life. Minato used it on the night of the Nine-Tails attack.
On the night he died, Minato sealed half of Kurama — its Yin half — into himself. Reanimated years later, he fought as that half's jinchūriki.
Naruto Uzumaki
Minato's son. He sealed half the Nine-Tails into the newborn Naruto to save the village, and never lived to raise him — meeting him only years later, briefly, as a chakra imprint and then a reanimation.
Kushina Uzumaki
Minato's wife and the previous Nine-Tails jinchūriki. He fell for her as a classmate, married her, and died beside her the night their son was born, the two of them shielding Naruto together.
Jiraiya
The Legendary Sannin who trained Minato as a personal student. Jiraiya thought of him as a son, and named the hero of his first novel after the boy Minato would name Naruto.
Kakashi Hatake
Minato's genin student, and the one who carried his teacher's lessons the furthest. Kakashi went on to become the Sixth Hokage.
Obito Uchiha
A genin student on Team Minato, believed lost on a wartime mission. Minato died never knowing what became of him.
Rin Nohara
The third member of Team Minato, alongside Kakashi and Obito.
Hiruzen Sarutobi
The Third Hokage, Minato's predecessor. Hiruzen took the hat back up after Minato's death, holding the village together in his place.
Tobirama Senju
The Second Hokage, who created the Flying Thunder God Technique generations before Minato was born. Minato never met him, but inherited his space-time jutsu and refined it past anything Tobirama had managed.

Pain's Assault on Konoha
Minato is fast to confirm once his standout columns appear. His Attributes column is one of the rarest readings on the board — he is a Hokage, a Sage Mode user, a jinchūriki, and an Edo Tensei reanimation all at once, a combination held by almost no one. His Namikaze clan is tiny, effectively his alone, and his Kage rank narrows the field again. His Konoha village is the common column. Minato debuts late, during Pain's Assault on Konoha, so the Debut Arc arrow usually points up toward him.

A father believes in his child. It really is that simple.
Thank you for being my wife. Thank you for being the mother of my child. Thank you, Kushina, for everything.
The rest, I leave to those who come after us. That is what it means to be Hokage.
