Registry summary
Hiashi Hyūga is the head of the Hyūga clan, the father of Hinata and Hanabi, and the elder twin of Hizashi. Stern to the point of cold with his daughters, he carried for years the guilt of a brother who died in his place. It took the truth of that death, spoken at last to Neji, to begin to set things right.

Hiashi leads the Hyūga, the oldest and proudest of Konoha's clans, from its main house. He and his twin Hizashi were born the same day, but Hiashi came first — and that single accident of minutes made him the heir and his brother branch family.
As a father he was hard. He drilled Hinata relentlessly, found her too gentle for the main house, and came to see his younger daughter Hanabi as the stronger heir. The warmth in him stayed buried under the duty of leading a clan that prized strength above almost everything.
Beneath that sternness sat a long guilt. During the Hyūga Affair, Hiashi's twin gave his own body in Hiashi's place, and Hiashi lived knowing his brother had died for him. How he carried that — and what he eventually told Hizashi's son — is the truest measure of the man.

Leader of the main house
Hiashi leads the Hyūga clan and its main house, one of the strongest fighters in a village full of them. The weight of the clan's traditions, and its old cruelties, rests on him.
- A strict father
Hard on his own
He drills Hinata without mercy and is openly disappointed in her gentleness, raising the younger Hanabi as the heir he thinks the clan needs. Affection, when it exists, stays well hidden.
- The night of the Affair
Protecting the heiress
A Hidden Cloud ninja tries to abduct the young Hinata under cover of a peace treaty. Hiashi kills him on the spot — an act that saves his daughter and sets a far worse price in motion.
- His brother's sacrifice
A life given for his
The Cloud demands the clan head's body in return. Hizashi, his identical twin, takes that place and dies for him. Hiashi is left to lead the clan carrying the knowledge of what his brother paid.
- Bowing to Neji
The truth, at last
Years on, Hiashi tells Neji the truth — that Hizashi chose his death freely, out of love — and bows to his nephew in apology for the clan's cruelty. It is the first real step toward mending what the Affair broke.

In the Fourth Shinobi World War, Hiashi fights alongside his family. By then his pride in the daughter he once judged weak is no longer hidden — Hinata has become someone he is plainly proud of.
