Master Strategist
The intellect that planned the Allied Forces' entire campaign — his true and most dangerous ability.
奈良シカク · 奈良鹿久
Also known as Jōnin Commander, Shikamaru's Father
Shikaku Nara was the head of the Nara clan, Konoha's jōnin commander, and the father of Shikamaru. Lazy by habit and brilliant by nature, he was the brain behind almost every Allied strategy in the Fourth Shinobi World War. His last act was to send the whole army one final plan — and his son a few last words.
Shikaku led the Nara, a Konoha clan known for shadow techniques, the deer they keep, and the medicines they brew. He carried himself the way every Nara man seems to — slouched, unhurried, and a step ahead of everyone in the room.
That lazy surface hid one of the sharpest minds in the village, a temperament his son Shikamaru inherited whole. Shikaku found most things too much trouble to bother with; strategy was the exception, and there he had no equal.
At home he deferred to his wife Yoshino without complaint. At work he was Konoha's jōnin commander, the planner the Hokage leaned on — and when the Fourth Shinobi World War came, that role grew into something the entire Allied Forces would depend on.
Shikaku leads the Nara, the clan of shadow-users who keep deer and brew medicine. He carries the role lightly, all slouch and sighs, with a mind always working underneath.
Among Konoha's sharpest, Shikaku stands out for how little he seems to try. He finds effort tiresome and says so often — but set a real problem in front of him and the whole village goes quiet to listen.
As Konoha's jōnin commander, Shikaku is the one the Hokage turns to when a plan has to be right the first time. He runs the village's strategy the way his son plays shōgi — several moves ahead.
When the Fourth Shinobi World War breaks out, Shikaku becomes the brain of the entire Allied Forces. Almost every move the alliance makes against Obito and Madara runs through his analysis first.
When the Ten-Tails turns on the headquarters, Shikaku knows there is no escape. He has Inoichi patch him through to the whole army one final time and delivers the plan that will carry the war forward without him.
In the same breath, Shikaku says goodbye to Shikamaru — passing the future to his son as plainly and as quietly as he ever did anything. Then the headquarters is gone.
Shikaku's sharpest weapon was never a jutsu — it was his mind, the strategist's intellect that planned a world war's worth of moves. Around it sat the Nara shadows: a technique that pins a target to mirror his every motion, shaped by his Yin nature, with Fire and Earth to fall back on.
The intellect that planned the Allied Forces' entire campaign — his true and most dangerous ability.
The signature Nara technique, binding a target to copy his own movements against their will.
An extension of the shadow that rises to seize and throttle a held target.
The nature that gives the Nara shadows their shape and substance.
His other two nature transformations, rounding out a clan head's arsenal.

Chūnin Exams
Shikaku's Clan column reads Nara, which on its own narrows the board to a small family. From there the side columns finish the job. His Nature Types column runs Fire, Earth, and Yin, with that Yin entry rare across the roster and tied to his shadow style. He has no Kekkei Genkai and no special Attributes, reads as a Konoha jōnin, and debuts in the Chūnin Exams arc as an adviser rather than a fighter.

Strategy isn't about being the strongest piece on the board. It's about knowing which piece to move, and when.
