Also known as Ice Mirror User, Zabuza's Tool
Haku is a shinobi of the Yuki clan and a wielder of Ice Release, the first Kekkei Genkai the series ever showed. Gentle by nature and orphaned by his own gift, he found a purpose only in serving Zabuza Momochi — and gave his life on the Great Naruto Bridge to shield the one person who had ever wanted him.
Haku was a child of the Yuki clan, born in Kirigakure, the Hidden Mist, during the village's cruellest years — the era of the Bloody Mist.
It was the worst possible place to be born as he was. Kirigakure in that era hunted those who carried Kekkei Genkai, and Haku had inherited one — Ice Release.
When his father discovered the gift, he turned on his own family. Haku lost both parents, and was left a small child alone on the streets, certain that he was unwanted and worth nothing to anyone.
Haku is born of the Yuki clan, carrying Ice Release, in a Kirigakure that fears and hunts bloodline power. The gift that should have been his is, in that era, a death sentence.
When Haku's father learns what the boy and his mother carry, he turns on them. Haku loses both his parents — and learns, far too young, that even a family can come to fear you.
Haku is left a small child on the streets, with no one and nothing. What stays with him is not anger but a quiet, settled belief: that he is worthless, because no one wants him.
Zabuza Momochi finds Haku and takes him in. He does not give the boy warmth, exactly — he gives him something Haku wants more, and has no other source for: a reason to exist, a use.
Haku devotes himself wholly to Zabuza, training into a deadly shinobi and calling himself a tool. Yet through all of it he keeps his gentleness — he disarms where he can, and kills only when he must.
On the Great Naruto Bridge, Kakashi's Lightning Blade is about to strike Zabuza. Haku steps into its path and takes the blow — and dies content, believing he served the one person who wanted him to the very end.
Haku fought the way he lived — gently, if the fight allowed it. He was extraordinarily fast, could weave jutsu with a single hand, and threw senbon needles precise enough to drop an opponent without killing them, which he often chose to do. His Ice Release, the first Kekkei Genkai the series introduced, turned that speed into a trap no ordinary shinobi could escape.

Haku's ultimate technique — a dome of ice mirrors he moves between near-instantly, attacking from every direction at once.
Haku can weave jutsu using only one hand — a rare speed that leaves opponents no time to read his next move.
Even outside his mirrors, Haku's raw quickness made him very hard for an opponent to track or strike.
Needle-throwing accurate enough to disable a target without killing — the option Haku reached for whenever a fight allowed it.

Prologue (Land of Waves)
Haku's Ice Release is the giveaway — a Kekkei Genkai column hit almost unique to him on the board. His Kirigakure village is uncommon and narrows the answer, his Yuki clan is rare, and his Rogue rank trims it further. His Nature Types column pairs Water with Wind. He debuts in the Land of Waves arc — the earliest of all — so the Debut Arc arrow points firmly down toward him.

A person becomes truly strong only when they have someone precious to protect. Until then, you do not know what you are.
Zabuza picked me up when I was nothing. If I can be his weapon, then I am not nothing anymore.
Forgive me, Zabuza. This is the last thing I can do for you — and I am glad it is for you.
