Vast Spiked Shell
Isobu's crab-like shell and spiked body — a near-impenetrable defence that turns the beast into a moving fortress.

Also known as Three-Tails, Sanbi, Giant Turtle
Isobu is the Three-Tails, a tailed beast in the shape of a vast, spiked turtle. Timid for a creature so large, it spoke of itself the way a shy child would — and was passed through one of the saddest jinchūriki histories of all the nine beasts.
Isobu is one of the nine tailed beasts, created when Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki divided the chakra of the Ten-Tails into nine creatures and named each.
Its form is an enormous turtle — a crab-like shell, spikes across its body, and three shrimp-like tails, with red, muscle-like tissue beneath the shell.
For all its size, Isobu is timid. It speaks of itself in a small, child-like way, and is far less outspoken than the fiercer of its siblings.
Isobu comes into being when Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki splits the Ten-Tails into nine beasts. Like its siblings, it is given a name and a self of its own.
Isobu takes the shape of a great spiked turtle — but its manner is small and shy, the gentlest-spoken of the nine beasts, not the fiercest.
Kirigakure seals Isobu into the Konoha medic Rin Nohara, meaning to unleash it inside her village. Rin, aware of the plot, chooses her own death rather than carry the beast home.
Isobu is later sealed into Yagura, the Fourth Mizukage — the one host to reach true harmony with it. But Yagura is himself a puppet of Obito, and so Isobu is, by extension, controlled.
Isobu is in time extracted from its host and sealed into the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, gathered with the other captured tailed beasts.
At the end of the Fourth Shinobi World War, Isobu is freed — released, at last, from the long cycle of being sealed, used, and taken.
Isobu fights as a fortress and a flood at once. Its crab-like shell and spiked body make it brutally hard to harm, and it commands water, swimming at tremendous speed and growing coral to trap whatever it cannot outrun. Beneath all of it sits a tailed beast's vast reserve of chakra — the same well of power that runs through every one of the nine.

The sphere of condensed positive and negative chakra that every one of the nine tailed beasts can produce.
Isobu commands water and can swim at tremendous speed — a difficult target in any sea or flood.
Isobu can grow coral across a battlefield, binding and trapping its enemies in place.
A vast reserve of chakra Isobu can lend to others, as all nine of the tailed beasts can.

Isobu's Tailed Beast attribute is the giveaway — a column hit that only the nine tailed beasts on the board share. Its Village column reads None and its Ninja Rank reads None, and it has no clan and no Kekkei Genkai, so four columns turn grey at once. Its Nature Types column holds only Water — a clean single-nature reading. It debuts in Kakashi's Story, a late-told arc, so the Debut Arc arrow points up toward it.

I am the Three-Tails. I am... boku — I am only Isobu. Please. I never asked to be a weapon.
Rin would not carry me into her village. She chose to die instead. I have never forgotten that she would not use me to do harm.
Yagura and I were at peace inside that seal. It was the masked man pulling his strings, not the Mizukage — and not me.
